The Wooden Church from Surdesti, Maramures county, was built in 1721 by the hurdler Ion Macarie. It is a Greek-Catholic religious edifice. Its titular saints are Archangels Michael and Gabriel. The Church has a great religious and historic value and, as a result of its value it was included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites. The Church`s gumbos are of oak tree wood, its tower is 54 meters high and is surrounded by 4 similar but smaller towers.
