The Marble Pit from Ruschita, Caras-Severin county, is situated at 10 km away from Rusca Montana commune.

The marble from Ruschita has many shades – from white, to grey, pink, reddish and pink-yellowish. Today, the marble is exploited in two pits: The Old Pit – Gropan and The New Pit – Ionel`s Hill, both situated in Poiana Rusca Mountains, at an altitude of 800 meters. These two pits represent the largest marble inventory that is being exploited in Romania. Many important monuments were created with Ruschita marble, such as various buildings from the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, like The Bancks` Palace from Vienna. The Dome from Milan was also restored with marble from Ruschita. In the United States, the famous eagle from the Oval Office of the White House is sculpted in Ruschita marble.
