The Kornis Fortress from Pomezeu, Bihor county, was first mentioned in official documents in 1594 under the name of Pomezo.
According to the official documents, the owner of the Fortress was Sigismund Kornis of Rusca, the general of the Transylvanian Prince Gheorghe Rackoczi I. In 1659, the Fortress was conquered by the Ottomans.
It is a historical monument and only a few ruins can be seen from it today.
