The Govora Monastery from Govora village, Mihaesti commune, Valcea county, was built between the 14th – 15th centuries, under the rule of Vlad the Impaler. It is one of the oldest monasteries from Romania. Its interior painting, icons, old books, as well as the other religious objects give a great cultural, historical and artistic value.
The Govora Monastery is dedicated to the “Assumption of the Holy Virgin Mary” and is a historic monument.
