The Orthodox Hotarani Monastery is situated in Hotarani village, Olt county. It is one of the oldest Orthodox monasteries from Oltenia. The monastery was built in the 16th century by the boyar Mitrea. The edifice was erected in 1588, on the ruins of a Roman village that was situated at the suburb of the ancient city Romula. Unfortunately, the monastery is in ruins today and is in need of urgent restoration.
It is a historic monument.
