Putna Monastery from Putna commune, Suceava county, is one of the most known religious and cultural centers from Romania. It was built by the Moldavian ruler Steven the Great in 1466 and is dedicated to the ”Assumption of the Holy Virgin Mary”. Across time, the monastery survived many attacks and is, today, one of the symbols of Romania. The religious edifice also has a rich museum, an important collection of old, religious books, manuscripts, icons, etc. with a great historic and cultural value.
It is a historic monument and a pilgrimage place for Christians from Romania and abroad.
