The Great Mosque from Constanta is also known as Carol Mosque. The Muslims call it “Kral Camisi” or the King’s Mosque. The construction was made following the architecture of Konya Mosque from Anatolia, Turkey. Its building started in 1910, at the initiative of the King Carol the Ist, as an homage to the Muslim community from Constanta. Initially, the mosque was called Mosque “Carol the Ist” and later Mosque “Mahmud the IInd”. The minaret of the mosque was built in Moorish style and is 47 meters long.
