The Museum of Crosses from Macesu commune, Gorj county was created in 2012 and is singular in Romania. It displays over 130 traditional crosses that are used by the people from the country in various situations – to funerals, to memorial services, for oaths, for sins absolution, etc. These crosses were exhibited in the courtyard of the old school of the commune and near. The original idea of this museum belonged to Pompiliu Ciolacu, a person who is a culture professional from the Gorj county.
