The Wooden Church from Rona de Jos village, Maramures county, is dated between 1634 – 1644 and is dedicated to the Birth of Virgin Mary. It is considered a national historic monument and is known as “the church with eyes”, because its closed porch is cut in many round breaches which resemble the human eye and lashes. The interior was painted in 1793 and many of the original paintings are well preserved today.

It is situated only 12 km from Sighetu Marmatiei.
