The Glade fir trees swamp is located in Giulești village and is a protected area. The swamp is located inside the Eastern Carpathians in Igniș mountains near the Fir Valley spring more accurate in the north-east of “Tăul lui Dumitru” natural reservation. The altitude is below 1000 meters. The swamp is inside a volcanic crater.
The Glade fir trees swamp is overleaping Nature 2000 – Igniș site and is a protected area.
It has a surface of 3 ha. The reservation is made of oligotrophe wetlands which hosts o diversity of peatland specific plants.
The natural reservation is the lowest area in Romania where juniper trees grow. The reservation was discovered by Emil Pop in 1932.
